Anything Can Be A Painting!

"The function of design is letting design function," says designer Micha Cammeren. 

Yep. The design of a chair may start out with, how will this fit the sitter comfortably? Then, how will it look? Sophisticated? Appropriate? Hip, futurist, timeless--fill in the blank? I like painting and refinishing furniture pieces because they are already functional; they already have a purpose. But, how can I make them look more artful?
